- Ensure all designs meet Building Regulations, fire, thermal, and acoustic performance requirements.
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, main contractors, and suppliers to resolve design queries and technical challenges.
- Review and approve subcontractor and supplier drawings to ensure coordination with the project brief.
- Lead design risk assessments and contribute to value engineering exercises.
- Support pre-construction teams with technical input during bids and tenders.
- Oversee the preparation and coordination of design drawings, details, and specifications for façade, cladding, and roofing systems.
- Manage the full design approval process — from concept and tender through to construction and as-built stages.
- Lead and manage the design function for multiple projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
- Mentor and develop junior design staff, promoting technical excellence across the team.
- Stay up to date with materials, systems, and industry best practices.

We’re working with a specialist building envelope contractor seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design function across multiple projects. This role offers a blend of technical leadership, client engagement, and hands-on design coordination, working on some of the UK’s most exciting façade, cladding, and roofing schemes.
- Strong working knowledge of Building Regulations, CWCT Standards, NHBC requirements, and fire safety guidance (BS 8414, BR 135).
- Strong understanding of building envelope design, performance, and interface detailing.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Façade Engineering, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and ideally Revit.
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Designer within the façade, cladding, or roofing sector.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Salary: Up to £75,000 + Package
