The Commissioner role directly supports Nordex’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants. You will test, analyse, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, identify wind turbine defects, and perform repairs during the commissioning phase of wind‑farm projects. When no active project is available, you will carry out retrofits and assist other Operations and Maintenance functions.
- Commission and verify functionality of Nordex wind turbines per documented procedures
- Connect turbines to remote surveillance system for functional testing
- Perform independent fault analysis and determine root causes
- Test electrical and mechanical protectors
- Document and report technical problems, faults, component defects, daily activities, and performance data per company procedures
- Inventory spare parts and materials, initiating procurement coordination with site manager
- Record part usage and complete work orders as required
- Manage and safeguard Nordex material, tools, and property
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines
- Execute tasks according to Nordex manuals and regulations efficiently, on time, and with high quality

The position requires the ability to work in confined spaces, lift up to 100 lb (45 kg) and handle equipment up to 23 kg (50 lb) while wearing full personal protective equipment. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment physical, meet weight limits for climbing gear, and be able to work at heights above 100 m. Travel to domestic and international project sites is required, along with a valid driver’s licence, passport, and fluency in English and French (Spanish or German a plus).
- Diagnose and resolve minor faults independently
- Retrofit turbines following approved work instructions
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of experience, technical training, and safety certifications
- Technical two‑year college degree or at least two years of electrical trade experience
- 1–2 years of comparable wind industry experience and training
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fiber optics, and repair of Nordex and Acciona wind turbine technologies
- Competence in switching various types of switchgear
- Ability to analyze and solve problems independently with results orientation
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to prioritize work, multitask, meet deadlines, prepare reports, and apply best practices
- Strong ethics and integrity
- Ability to thrive in a diverse, fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to supervise multiple activities, organize work, meet deadlines, and prepare reports
- Physical ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb), work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and operate at heights above 100 m; meet weight limits (≤120 kg/265 lb) for climbing equipment
- Ability to work 100 % of the time at wind farms during commissioning and travel domestically and internationally; possess a valid driver’s licence and passport
- Eligibility to work in Canada without sponsorship and obtain a US passport; meet Canadian pre‑employment screening requirements
- Fluency in English and French; Spanish or German a plus
Benefits
Compensation is non‑exempt at $41.00‑$48.00 CAD hourly, with the opportunity to earn up to a 5 % performance bonus. Individual packages are tailored based on skills, experience, qualifications and other job‑related factors.
