As an Assembly Engineering Specialist in the Electrical Sector Americas (ES-A), you will serve as the subject-matter expert for assembly and wiring processes within internal manufacturing. You will initiate and manage complex engineering projects that span assembly, sub-assembly, manual and automated wiring, collaborating closely with engineering and operations across all business units. Acting as a liaison between internal and external customers and the engineering team, you will evaluate and recommend product and process technology roadmaps in partnership with supported businesses.
You will lead and mentor more than 50 manufacturing sites, promoting world-class manufacturing practices and productivity improvements. This includes establishing design-for-manufacturing guidelines, developing skill requirements for assembly staff, and coordinating best-practice implementation across facilities. As the ES-A SME, you will define standards that optimize productivity and guide technology roadmaps for assembly, sub-assembly, and wiring processes.
A core part of the role is to develop and support a portfolio of improvement programs, covering materials, machines, and process control. You will drive value-engineering, Design of Experiments, Rapid Improvement Events, and other problem-solving tools to lower part cost, improve quality, and address manufacturing challenges. Continuous improvement initiatives will focus on product cost reductions and the integration of technical innovations.
You will oversee capital investment projects, working with maintenance teams and external contractors to implement new equipment and processes that enhance performance and reduce downtime. Managing capital and expense spending, you will prepare financial justifications and support cost-allocation analyses for assigned projects.
Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a strong background in manufacturing, industry standards, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree, have at least seven years of relevant experience, and possess Lean Six Sigma certification and expertise in automated, semi-automated, and manual assembly, including complex wiring and related documentation.
