The position is responsible for establishing and expanding Materials Testing Services in North America, primarily for the automotive sector and VOC testing. Reporting to the VP of Automotive and dotted‑line to the Head of Automotive Materials Testing Services, the role involves approximately 30 % travel to support market growth.
Key duties include strategic planning, budgeting, and operational management of US automotive testing services while ensuring adherence to SGS quality standards and the Code of Integrity. The incumbent will monitor the NAM market, provide technical support and training, manage accreditation processes, and drive OEM relationships to increase accredited laboratories. Performance is measured through planning, KPIs, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
The ideal candidate brings over ten years of senior‑level experience managing automotive materials testing labs, with a strong background in VOC testing, quality systems, and OEM standards. A bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent) and fluency in English are required, along with proven skills in planning, auditing, training, and strategic execution. Leadership qualities such as innovation, collaboration, and change management are essential.
