Description

• Growing and mentoring the internal team, including a small but capable estimating/operations group poised for development.
• Building a scalable operational structure covering substation and a new overhead transmission line offering.
• Creating staffing models, craft labor strategies, equipment plans, and repeatable execution processes.
• Strengthening relationships with major utilities across the country.
• Overseeing all project delivery from estimating through commissioning, ensuring accuracy, safety, and performance.

Requirements

Location: Flexible U.S. (Ideally EST or CST)

This is a rare chance to take a sub-20-person operation and scale it into an 80–100+ person, multi-state business. You’ll own the development of a multi-year growth strategy, the build-out of new service offerings, and the creation of the operational foundation for a top-tier substation and T&D construction organization. If you’ve successfully grown transmission or substation teams before and enjoy both high-level strategy and hands-on work, this role offers the autonomy and runway to make a major impact.

• Comfortable getting “in the weeds” with pricing, production, and construction techniques.
• Established relationships at major utilities.
• 20+ years in utility construction with deep experience in substations and overhead transmission (115 kV+ preferred).
• A track record of scaling T&D or substation operations from small teams into multi-crew, multi-state execution groups.
• Experience managing $20M+ annual P&Ls, ideally within a broader business unit.
