The Environmental Manager prepares the landfill budget, manages all spending for the Engineering department, and oversees personnel during site development. This role also handles permitting and ensures the landfill remains in compliance with all applicable regulations during operation.
Key duties include managing construction projects for landfill cells and sites, overseeing capacity calculations, scheduling, and resource coordination, as well as maintaining financial responsibility for construction, closure, engineering, operations, and cost tracking.
The manager coordinates permit applications and designs, interfaces with regulators, prepares responses to inspections, assists with fill sequencing plans, participates in acquisition reviews, conducts public‑relations and due‑diligence activities, produces monthly soil tracking reports, supervises Environmental Technicians and Specialists, and ensures ongoing compliance through air and water monitoring and reporting.
Qualifications require thorough knowledge of environmental regulations related to air, water, solid waste, and recycling, strong written and oral communication skills, and effective interpersonal abilities across the organization and with external stakeholders.
Candidates must have at least five years of experience in landfill engineering or environmental compliance covering air, water, and solid waste, along with strong project management, analytical, and multitasking capabilities.
