Description

• Lead architect for public building projects, ensuring compliance with Shive-Hattery standards.
• Conduct design reviews, generate ideas, collaborate, and produce drawings, models, and 3D images.
• Direct and mentor junior staff in design, production, and coordination of technical documents.
• Attend project and client meetings with design professionals for contracted projects.
• Collaborate with local office and firmwide market leadership on business development opportunities.
• Manage and supervise medium and large project teams of architects, engineers, and designers.

Requirements

Shive-Hattery's Kansas City office has an immediate opening for a Mid-Level Licensed Architect focused on the Civic Public Buildings sector and Business Unit. The role involves leading architectural projects, collaborating with design professionals, and contributing to both design and project management activities.

• 5–10 years of architectural practice experience.
• Accredited professional degree (B.Arch or M.Arch) or equivalent education and experience.
• Licensed architect registration (required).
• Demonstrate critical and creative thinking throughout the design process.
• Knowledge of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code, and ADA requirements.
• Understanding of programming, planning, and building performance.
• Design with a comprehensive understanding of building systems for high‑quality public/institutional clients.
• Self‑motivated problem‑solver with excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and Google SketchUp; AutoCAD knowledge is beneficial.
