You will lead the development and implementation of I&C systems across nuclear new build and modernisation projects, ensuring safety-critical system performance and regulatory compliance.

  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to achieve fully integrated designs.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation to high regulatory standards.
  • Design and review instrumentation, control logic, and safety system architectures.
  • Provide multidisciplinary oversight across civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering packages.
  • Lead engineering input into new build and infrastructure development projects.
  • Support cybersecurity, redundancy, and diversity requirements for nuclear I&C systems.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Specify and integrate control equipment (PLC, DCS, SCADA, and field instrumentation).
  • Ensure compliance with CNSC, NRC, and IAEA regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and CNSC standards.
  • Support feasibility studies, site assessments, and technology evaluations.
  • Provide electrical input into feasibility studies and plant layouts.

While your primary base will be Toronto, the role may require hybrid work or on-site presence at different client locations, depending on project deployment.

We are seeking an experienced Principal I&C Engineer to support nuclear new build and energy infrastructure projects across Canada. Based in Toronto, you will provide technical leadership and multidisciplinary input during the pre-FEED and development phases, ensuring the successful delivery of major client programmes.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Previous international or large-scale infrastructure project experience.
  • Familiarity with digital control systems used in CANDU or AP1000 technologies.
  • Experience with safety-class I&C systems and software lifecycle processes.
  • Proven track record delivering pre-FEED and design-phase projects.
  • P.Eng (or equivalent) with eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Proven extensive experience within the nuclear or energy sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and interface with clients.
  • Experience working with major Canadian nuclear operators.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and safety culture.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-vendor I&C design coordination.
