Tasks

Customers and community are at the heart of everything we do. From time-to-time you may be called upon to support an emergency response (e.g. storms, bushfires, floods) to ensure we continue to safely deliver our customers’ energy needs. There are many ways you can help support our customers and AusNet responders during an emergency that align to your skills and capabilities. This will be discussed with your People Leader should an event arise. You’ll also help embed a strong bushfire safety culture across the organisation, ensuring our network operates to the highest safety standards and is well-prepared for future climate risks. It’s a unique opportunity to own a portfolio that combines bushfire mitigation, resilience planning, and advanced data analytics, making a real impact on the communities we serve. You’ll take ownership of our bushfire risk frameworks, identify investment opportunities, and lead the delivery of key projects. As a primary liaison with regulatory bodies, you’ll help shape how AusNet responds to growing climate-related challenges. This role blends technical expertise with strategic thinking and requires the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. The Manager, Bushfire & Resilience will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering AusNet’s bushfire mitigation and resilience strategies. With a strong focus on asset risk reduction and climate hazard modelling, this role is about driving meaningful change across our network to improve safety and reliability. -Establish and maintain a governance structure around bushfire risk reporting to ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement Tracking and monitoring fire start information; -Ensuring AusNet Services attains ALARP status for Bushfire Safety; -Development of risk assessment associated with hazard trees and vegetation; -Leverage advanced data analytics (e.g., FME) and data querying (e.g., SQL) to identify bushfire trends and develop business cases for mitigation measures. -Identify and champion cost-efficient investment opportunities for bushfire mitigation and oversee end-to-end project management to ensure successful delivery. -Establish a strong bushfire culture within the organisation, ensuring the adoption of a bushfire focus amongst all employees through continuous education and engagement initiatives. -Development and implementation of both the resilience and bushfire strategies; -Monitoring and reporting of pre-summer bushfire activities for senior leaders and/or the Board; -Updating climate hazard exposure modelling in line with regulatory time periods;

What You Bring

-Strong leadership capability to lead and build small teams to drive continuous improvement -Strong data analytics acumen (FME preferred), with experience transforming data into strategic business projects and insights -Demonstrated years of experience in a safety, compliance, risk management or audit, preferably within the energy utilities sector, oil and gas or mining. -Relevant qualification and experience in Engineering, Asset Management and or Bushfire Mitigation -Experience in developing and implementing company-wide strategies -Experiencing in translating climate-related exposure hazard into asset management interventions
