Plan and implement reclamation and closure execution, construction monitoring and quality control programs on large and small scale mine closure sites, with focus on safe work.
Contribute to client growth initiatives and prepare proposal scopes and budgets for mine closure and reclamation works
Carry out office duties such as design support and report preparation, data analysis and interpretation; estimating and direct multi-disciplinary team in the execution of project objectives and coordination and contribution to environmental assessments and permitting activities related to mine closure and reclamation.
Contribute to mine closure planning and execution, including preparation of mine closure plans and designs, liability estimates, risk assessments, cover assessments and reclamation plans, closure management plans and implementation of mine closure and reclamation programs.
Work with the Stantec team to ensure training plans and performance targets are identified and met for individual team members
Provide technical guidance on closure and reclamation liability reduction, risk management strategies and mine development optimization with clients and project teams
Manage task deadlines, budgets, and deliverables

Experience with closure and reclamation planning at all stages of projects from exploration or pre-feasibility through to closure execution. Experience with regulators is an asset.
Field work may include work in remote environments, challenging terrain, and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work with initiative, professionalism, and confidentiality, and can multi-task and adapt to change in a dynamic environment
Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
10-15 years of relevant closure and reclamation related experience in Canada (experience in northern Canada is an asset)
Excellent writing skills and ability to contribute to the development of technical documents
Minimum of 7 years of experience in mining
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, land reclamation or related field is required.
Strong understanding of closure liabilities, execution risks and mine operations in Canada
Experience working in remote locations
Experience and willingness to engage with clients and develop strong relationships to build client base and increase service offerings
