The intern will develop mechanical hardware from concept generation through detailed design, prototyping, and design‑verification testing. Duties include regulatory‑approval testing, launch support, coordinating prototype efforts, planning and executing test programs, and analyzing test data to optimize designs. The role also involves preparing design diagrams, detailed drawings, specifications, and presenting technical reports.
Collaboration occurs with engineers, program managers, product line managers, and other professionals to create world‑class life‑safety products. Responsibilities include analyzing market requirements, assessing feasibility, cost, vibration tolerance, mechanical stress, fluid flow, heat transfer, and maintaining knowledge of manufacturing methods, industry trends, and regulatory standards.
Candidates must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed a sophomore year toward a BS or the first year of an MS, and be able to apply fundamental engineering theory, mathematics, mechanics, and physical science. Required skills include teamwork, strong written and oral communication, flexibility, high attention to detail, and solid organizational abilities. Prior business internship or co‑op experience, leadership experience, and strong business acumen are preferred.
The hourly wage ranges from $21 to $24, determined by education, experience, and skills, and the position includes a competitive benefits package.
