Assistant Manager – SCM is responsible for procurement of materials and services and sub‑contract management within the power transmission and civil sub‑contract sectors.
The role drives the Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) cycle for the Transmission Line EPC business, sourcing items such as conductors (including HTLS), OPGW, towers, steel, hardware, accessories, insulators, and substation equipment, as well as managing sub‑contracts for civil work, tower erection, and stringing operations.
It also covers procurement of communication equipment (FOTE/SDH/PDH) and auxiliary power system components for OPGW projects, along with long‑term operation and maintenance contracts for transmission line projects.
Key duties include negotiating and managing contracts, maintaining project budgets while achieving cost savings, ensuring timely award of purchase orders and deliveries with EHS compliance, providing bottom‑up costing for bid teams, developing market intelligence and cost benchmarks, and building a strategic vendor and subcontractor base through e‑auctions and back‑to‑back arrangements.
The position requires understanding taxation impacts on sourcing strategy, managing a cost‑trend database, tracking industry movements, releasing purchase orders in SAP, supporting project teams for on‑time delivery, enforcing contract compliance, and conducting site visits to supervise safety and material usage.
