Support and manage the cost/commercial management team ensuring appropriate resources are provided on projects, meeting the client and business requirements
Develop strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team
Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients
Actively manage contractors and subcontractors’ payments and final accounts in accordance with contract conditions
Ensure projects and commissions are delivered to the satisfaction of the client for budget management
Lead the successful delivery of cost/commercial management services on multi-disciplinary Transmission, Distribution and Power Systems projects.

Experience of working with NGET business processes, supplier requirements, national development process 500.
A relevant degree such as quantity surveying or relevant equivalent
Understanding of the UK Transmission and Distribution System along with associated plan and equipment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to effectively communicate and engage with various stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and the public, to ensure project alignment and address concerns.
Infrastructure and cost/commercial management experience, delivering complex projects
Strategic Thinking: Understanding of the broader strategic goals of National Grid and how individual projects contribute to these objectives
Leadership and Team Development: Capability to lead cost/commercial teams, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting team members' professional growth.
Strong history in both contract (NEC3 and 4) and cost/commercial management.
Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and solve complex problems that may arise during project execution.
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Experience of working as part of integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams
Financial Acumen: Skills in budget management and financial oversight to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
Minimum of five years’ cost/commercial management experience
Highly competent in the use of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC)
Experience of working on projects in Substations, Overhead Lines, and Cables 33kV – 400kV with DNO or TO.
A member of a related professional body, preferably chartered
Experience of working within a client organisation, either directly or through a co-location/secondment arrangement.
Relationship building skills –ability to build strong relationships with clients, teams, and stakeholders as well as an ability to build and maintain networks of business contacts.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Highly motivated and with excellent industry network
