Analyze Projects: Participate in site visits and information sessions. Gather and review all important information (plans and specifications, site conditions, schedule, work phasing, etc.) to establish an accurate scope of work.
Manage Submissions: Draft detailed bids (lump-sum or unit price), negotiate contracts, and review changes and/or extras. Present, analyze, and verify the accuracy of estimates with the directors before project closing.
Plan Work: Plan the work with subcontractors and/or suppliers to obtain their bids and validate the compliance of those bids by analyzing the technical requirements specified in the tender documents.
Remain Competitive: Evaluate trends and stay abreast of market fluctuations in order to remain competitive and consistently win contracts.
Research and Develop Opportunities: Identify public tender calls that are of interest to the company and develop business opportunities whenever possible.
Maintain Relationships: Maintain a strong network of suppliers, clients, engineers, and consultants, and actively participate in updating the contact database.
Perform Cost Calculation: Analyze plans and specifications and perform accurate and precise quantity take-offs for materials and labor. Prepare quantity reports and summaries.
Manage Follow-Up: Present the execution steps for awarded projects to Project Managers and produce preliminary work schedules.
Education: Hold a College Diploma (DEC) in Electrical Engineering and/or any other relevant academic training.
We are looking for an Electrical Estimator to join our team in the Greater Montreal area. Under the supervision of the Chief Estimator, the ideal candidate is a rigorous and resourceful professional, capable of analyzing tender documents for various public and private bids and preparing cost estimates for a variety of projects within our electrical and civil division.
Organizational Skills: Excellent sense of organization, high reliability, time and priority management, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
You must be on the lookout for public tender calls and develop new private opportunities. Your estimating expertise, market knowledge, and negotiation skills will be essential to help us secure contracts and maintain our leadership position.
Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and analyze plans and specifications. Understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code. Excellent command of mathematics. Proficiency in the Office Suite (minimum) and MS Project (asset).
Market Knowledge: Have a good general knowledge of the construction market, specifically in the electrical and civil fields.
Communication and Negotiation Skills: Bilingualism (French and English), excellent oral and written communication. Negotiation talent is essential.
Experience: Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as an estimator and/or any other relevant experience in similar roles.
Soft Skills: Sound judgment and analytical reasoning, high autonomy, meticulousness, initiative, proactivity, rigor, professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and ability to work in a team.
