Operations Director - Project Management

Description

The role involves managing a major defence sector project worth approximately £500 million, part of a £5 billion infrastructure investment programme over the next ten years.

The position requires daily leadership of design and construction activities, coordination of technical queries, data management, support for meetings and reviews, collaboration with PMO and client teams, promotion of learning and collaboration tools, and stewardship of key client relationships.

• Lead day‑to‑day project design, construction and technical query coordination.
• Oversee data collection, dashboards, and update cost, schedule, risk and performance information.
• Support project meetings, assurance reviews and technical scrutiny boards.
• Liaise with PMO, regional teams and client‑side PM on contracts and TSP matters.
• Promote use of the Learning for Excellence platform, lesson‑learned systems and collaboration hub.
• Manage key client relationships and generate new prospects and leads.
• Bring 15+ years of infrastructure delivery across the full RIBA lifecycle.

Working location is flexible, with the project team likely based around the East of England, so ability to work from this location is required.

Candidates must hold chartered membership or equivalent, have 15+ years of infrastructure delivery across the full RIBA lifecycle, possess NEC4 ECC accreditation and SC eligibility, and demonstrate proven leadership in defence sector project delivery.
