The Motorman is responsible for preventive maintenance on all engines and rig equipment, assists mechanics with engine repairs, maintains inventory of hand tools, spare parts, and engine equipment, and serves as the floor lead.
- Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety procedures
- Operate and maintain the rig at floor level and above motors
- Inspect, lubricate and maintain rig motors
- Operate essential equipment for rig operations
- Immediately report all accidents and incidents to the Driller
- Conduct minor maintenance on the rig and rig equipment
- Keep maintenance reports and records for rig motors and equipment
- Ensure rig and equipment are in safe operating condition
- Train and act as a Derrickman in the Derrickman's absence
- Operate forklifts, heavy equipment and auxiliary equipment
- Travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas, other states and internationally, where the rig is operating
- Safely operate a forklift, heavy equipment and auxiliary equipment
- Safely operate a vehicle

Candidates should have at least six months of drilling experience, a high school education, strong English communication skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate forklifts, heavy equipment, and vehicles safely.
The role demands predominantly standing work, occasional sitting, the ability to lift 50 lb repeatedly, frequent climbing on elevated platforms, and the capacity to work in severe weather while wearing required protective equipment.
- Understand procedures and instructions as acquired in four years of high school
- Minimum of 6 months experience in drilling
- Communicate in English verbally and in writing to perform work safely and efficiently
- Communicate clearly in noisy and low illumination environments
- Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record for ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier
