We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team in Grapevine, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting first-level failure analysis on customer-returned server and workstation computers, identifying root causes of hardware issues, and documenting findings in coordination with both internal stakeholders and global client teams. You’ll support product quality by investigating failures, driving improvements, and presenting technical findings to support operational excellence.

  • Work directly in the customer lab environment and ensure all failure analysis processes follow safety and compliance protocols.
  • Analyze production and failure trends, identify recurring issues, and contribute to cost-effective, long-term solutions.
  • Support inventory and resource allocation to optimize cost efficiency and product flow.
  • Assemble/disassemble hardware and subcomponents with precision.
  • Conduct component-level diagnostics (capacitors, resistors, ICs, fuses, etc.) to determine root cause of failures.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with the company’s culture and safety standards.
  • Mentor junior technicians and support training in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Perform visual mechanical inspections (VMI) of computer systems and components such as power supplies, DIMMs, CPUs, NICs, SSDs, and motherboards.
  • Use electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and specialized diagnostic tools.
  • Execute sample analyses to qualify equipment, validate processes, and improve reliability.
  • Utilize engineering change orders (ECOs), schematics, and system diagrams to guide testing and repairs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Document findings in formal reports and communicate results with internal teams and clients including collaboration with global teams in Asia via email and conference calls.

Education Level: Associate Degree or higher

Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting (90%)

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Repair or related field required. Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Skilled in documenting and presenting failure data in both verbal and written formats.
  • Proficiency with computer hardware systems, electronic testing tools, and database reporting systems.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including overtime, as needed.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, software updates (OS, BIOS, drivers, firmware), and PC-based diagnostic tools.
  • 0–2 years of experience in failure analysis or 4+ years in electronics quality inspection or computer diagnostics.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Mandarin Chinese language skills a plus.
  • Ability to read/interpret schematics, system board layouts, block diagrams, and understand subassembly functionality.
