Description

The Day Porter maintains common areas of office buildings, apartment houses, and other commercial or institutional facilities, ensuring they remain clean, orderly, and welcoming. The role involves routine cleaning, trash removal, and coordination with building management to address any issues that arise during the day.

• Spot clean lobby glass doors.
• Inspect building exterior and remove trash.
• Clean ashtrays and sand urns on each floor.
• Empty and clean exterior trash receptacles.
• Check restrooms twice daily.
• Vacuum lobby once a day or as needed.
• Sweep stairwells and landings as required.
• Remove debris from landscaped areas.
• Sweep building entrances.
• Clean smudges and marks from walls, doors, and coverings.
• Report non‑functional lights to management.
• Report solicitors to management.
• Police the lobby at high‑traffic times to keep floors and planters free of debris.
• Empty all trash receptacles.
• Assist the building engineer daily as directed.

Requirements

Successful performance requires strong attendance and punctuality, dependability in following instructions and meeting commitments, and a focus on safety and security by observing procedures and reporting hazards. The employee must also demonstrate the ability to work independently while supporting the building engineer as needed.

The work environment includes occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, outdoor weather, and potential electrical hazards, with a generally moderate noise level.
