Safety Specialist
Michael Baker International
A leading provider of engineering and consulting services for infrastructure, construction, and development.
Implement and monitor safety programs for water/wastewater construction projects.
Collaborate with the client, project managers, construction inspectors, and contractors to promote safe work practices.
Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP) in alignment with corporate safety policies for Michael Baker employees.
Participate in project meetings and provide safety input during all phase of construction.
Conduct regular (daily) site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure contractor compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
Maintain safety documentation, including inspection reports, audits, training records, and incident logs.
Provide safety training and toolbox talks to Michael Baker field personnel and review toolbox talks and any training provided by the contractors to their employees.
Coordinate incident investigations and root cause analyses with contractors; review contractor prepared incident reports and review corrective actions to be implemented by contractors.
MBI is responsible for ensuring construction activities do not impact the operation and or maintenance of the operating facility.
Monitor contractor safety performance to ensure adherence to safety protocols during all phases of construction.
Review all incident reports generated by the contractors prior to issuing to the client.

Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety, preferably in water/wastewater infrastructure.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently onsite and manage multiple priorities.
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), preferred.
