The Porter – Maintenance at Bridgeport Elderly Apartments reports to the Maintenance Team Supervisor or Property Manager and is a non‑exempt role tasked with maintaining the property’s physical condition and appearance in line with company standards.
The position involves general cleaning duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, shampooing carpets, washing walls and windows, dusting, polishing, cleaning upholstery, and disinfecting restrooms and trash rooms, as well as assisting cleaning and maintenance staff, performing apartment turnover cleaning, managing cleaning supply inventory, and helping with snow and trash removal and other special projects.
- Perform general cleaning: vacuum, sweep, mop, wax floors, shampoo carpets, wash walls and windows, dust, polish, clean upholstery, and disinfect restrooms and trash rooms.
- Assist cleaning and maintenance staff as needed.
- Conduct apartment turnover cleaning, including appliances, fixtures, tile, and carpets.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supply inventory.
- Participate in snow and trash removal and maintain property grounds.
- Complete special projects assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, community agencies, and staff.
- Enforce company policies and maintain resident confidentiality.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably 6‑12 months of cleaning/maintenance experience, be able to lift up to 50 lb, work on ladders and perform physically demanding tasks, and possess neat work habits and the core competencies of teamwork, integrity, dependability, customer focus, and adaptability, along with strong problem‑solving, safety, planning, interpersonal and communication skills.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; vocational/technical education preferred.
- Six months to one year cleaning/maintenance experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb, work on ladders, stand/walk for long periods, climb stairs, bend, and shovel snow.
- Proficient operation of cleaning equipment.
- Demonstrate neat work habits, teamwork, integrity, dependability, customer focus, and adaptability.
- Strong problem‑solving, safety awareness, planning, interpersonal and communication skills.
