Description

The position is a full-time pipe-layer role located in Greensboro-Colfax, NC. The employee will work on installing and maintaining sewer, water, and storm-drain systems, operating heavy equipment such as excavators and laser-guidance tools. The job requires adherence to company policies and reliable attendance.

Daily tasks include operating concrete saws and power tools, positioning, aligning and joining pipe sections, and setting drainage structures. The worker will also signal equipment operators, maintain and repair tools, keep the work area safe, and control traffic when certified. Additional duties may be assigned by supervisors.

• Operate concrete saws and other power tools.
• Position, align, and join pipe sections and set drainage structures.
• Install sewer, water, and storm-drain pipes using excavators with laser guidance.
• Signal equipment operators to align, move, and adjust machinery.
• Lubricate, clean, and repair tools according to standards.
• Clean and prepare the work area to eliminate hazards.
• Control traffic near work zones when certified.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth to grade specifications.
• Load and unload construction materials, machinery, and tools.
• Cut concrete pipe, ductile iron, and PVC components.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Physical demands are significant, requiring frequent lifting of materials over 80 pounds and performing heavy manual labor such as digging, backfilling, and compacting earth. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have at least one year of experience as a pipe layer or crew member.
