As a Trimmer A you support your team by focusing on safety, trustworthiness, and proper pruning techniques. You will climb trees near energized lines, remove overhangs, and perform maintenance tasks with appropriate assistance and equipment. You also assist in training less‑experienced climbers and bucket operators, and you demonstrate solid judgment and sound decision‑making. Additionally, you are prepared to join storm‑restoration efforts when needed.
The Trimmer A is a top‑performing climber or trimmer who has demonstrated exceptional performance in lower‑level positions, showing the ability to execute climbing techniques and rigging for pruning and removal tasks with precision and safety. Proficiency in operating aerial lifts is desirable but not required.
Minimum requirements include at least three years of relevant experience, the ability to read and communicate effectively in English, and a high school diploma or equivalent. A bilingual Spanish/English skill set is a plus, and a valid driver’s license is required, with a Commercial Driver’s License strongly preferred. Candidates must exhibit a strong work ethic, be able to travel long distances on short notice, lift over 50 lb, and be willing to work overtime when requested.
Additional expectations cover proper inspection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintenance of company vehicles, equipment, and tools, and the ability to perform rigorous physical labor. Employees must understand the correct use of company radios and hand tools, follow directions, work safely at heights or in confined spaces, and operate in inclement weather while adhering to established safety rules and company policies.
The physical demands of the role involve standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and using various vision abilities such as depth perception, peripheral vision, and color vision. Team members are frequently exposed to noise, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, and diverse weather conditions while performing vegetation‑clearing work outdoors.
