Senior Environment Advisor

Description

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring environmental compliance, promoting best practice, and driving continual improvement in sustainability performance across all project activities.

Location: Site-Based Role - this role has a national remit and will involve regular travel to project sites across the UK, as well as to our project hub in Birmingham

This site-based role will provide environmental leadership and oversight for LOR's environmental management across three key projects – CGNC, EDN2, and ATNC.

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and subcontractors to embed sustainability principles in project delivery.
• Support the delivery of BREEAM, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), and carbon reduction strategies across all projects.
• Implement and monitor environmental management systems in line with ISO 14001 requirements.
• Prepare environmental documentation, reports, and communications for both internal and client stakeholders.
• Champion environmental awareness and continuous improvement on-site.
• Provide on-site environmental management and advice to project teams throughout construction starting during GI and early works phases.
• Lead and undertake environmental audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with legislative and client requirements.

Requirements

You will be an experienced environmental professional with a strong background in the construction or infrastructure sector, ideally with experience supporting energy or utilities projects.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environment Advisor to join our team delivering major power infrastructure projects as part of the Great Grid Partnership.

• Membership of IEMA (or working towards).
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different project sites
• Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• CGNC – North Humber to High Marnham – 46km OHL enabling works
• Experience on National Grid or other major regulated infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience working in the construction or civil engineering sector.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites and manage competing priorities.
• ATNC – Norwich to Tilbury – 47km OHL enabling works, tower foundations and construction of a new substation
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Good understanding of BREEAM, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), and carbon management / reduction strategies.
• Working knowledge and hands-on experience of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and audit processes.
