Senior Structural Aviation Engineer

Lead and support the design and construction of aviation facilities and infrastructure across the U.S, serving as a technical lead on aviation terminal, concourse, and hangar projects and leading structural design and coordination from concept through construction.
Lead structural design and coordination from concept through construction, ensuring safety, durability, and compliance.
Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Apply advanced structural engineering techniques to airside and landside infrastructure, including mass timber, seismic design, and sustainable systems.
Stay current with FAA advisory circulars, procedures, and design software (e.g., FAARFIELD, COMFAA).
Serve as Technical lead on aviation terminal, concourse, and hangar projects.
Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
Support business development efforts and client engagement in the aviation sector.
Apply high-level structural engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various aviation project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or opportunities.
Conduct observations and investigations of existing and proposed facilities to ensure conformance with codes and standards
Oversee development of construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, and phasing plans.
Guide implementation of innovative technologies, modeling techniques, and materials.
Mentor junior staff and contribute to team growth and technical excellence.
Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of engineering/construction challenges and programs.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, airport authorities, and stakeholders to deliver future-ready solutions.

Demonstrated experience with terminal renovations, concourse expansions, and hangar design.
10+ years of experience in structural engineering with significant aviation project involvement.
Strong understanding of FAA standards and airport design principles.
Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of aviation buildings, facilities, or structures, and applying applicable regulations and governing codes.
Moderate travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Proficiency in Revit, and structural analysis software (e.g., RAM, ETABS, RISA).
Master’s Degree in Engineering.
PE license (multi-state preferred).
Experience with mass timber, seismic zones, and sustainable design.
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Highly proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
