W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor Inc is seeking an experienced steel fabricator for a full‑time position in its fabrication shop. Candidates must have at least five years of experience in a steel or similar fabrication environment and be capable of passing a welding certification test.
The role requires the ability to interpret fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and cut lists, and to use measuring devices accurately for assembly fit‑up. Proficiency with shop tools—including welding equipment, plasma cutters, torches, hole punch, plate shear, press‑brake, plate roll, band saw, and CNC plasma tables—is essential, as is the skill to produce clean welds in FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW across all positions.
General expectations include passing a drug test, possessing a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation, and adhering to a schedule of 6 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime. Employees must maintain an orderly work area, meet consistent production targets, communicate effectively with supervisors and peers, lift up to 60 lb, and observe proper dress standards such as long‑sleeve shirts, long pants, and steel‑toe boots.
Additional desirable abilities are forklift operation and familiarity with CAD/CAM software. After a 90‑day probationary period, the company provides paid personal time off and a health benefits package.
