What you would be doing

  • Prepare and participate in public meetings and presentations.
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, reports, and studies
  • Perform designs for all types of roadway infrastructure projects based on AASHTO, NCDOT, and/or local municipalities' design standards and criteria
  • Assists with project pursuits by providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings
  • Assist with project/contracting scoping, fee development, contract negotiations, and execution
  • Train and review the work of support staff
  • Interact with clients and public agencies

  • BSCE or BSCET degree with a minimum of 5 years of progressive design experience in all aspects of transportation design including roadway, traffic management, signing, pavement markings and utilities; or equivalent level of experience
  • Survey experience and data management
  • Knowledge of NCDOT design standards and practices and experience in project development workflow
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with Microstation, Geopack, Corridor Modeling and Open Roads
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in roadway and transportation management design
  • Experience in managing and organizing multiple tasks and related disciplines
  • Strong engineering analysis and judgment
  • NCDOT design experience
  • Ability to train support staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • PE license required
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
