Two engineers invented the detachable porcelain pothead, establishing a foundation of innovation.
The company pioneered SF₆-insulated and solid-dielectric switchgear in the 1960s–1970s, and visible-break automation in the 2000s.
Headquartered in Bolingbrook, IL, the company operates in over 100 countries, serving investor-owned utilities, co-ops, and commercial/industrial markets.
Typical projects include grid modernization, underground and overhead distribution, fault-limiting systems, microgrids, and infrastructure for critical sites like the Panama Canal and NASA.
The company expanded its global reach and product portfolio through strategic acquisitions, including Italian sensor and switchgear firms between 2019–2022.
Products operate in extreme environments—overhead, underground, underwater, and on all seven continents, from Brazil to Antarctica.
