Description

As a Plant Operator in Annandale, NJ, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining critical equipment within a collaborative team environment. The role is essential to achieving 100% up‑time and protecting client assets by ensuring building engineering systems perform their intended function. You will implement reliability‑based maintenance, execute inspection programs, and continuously evaluate maintenance methods to enhance performance.

Your daily duties will include operating the central utilities plant and Honeywell building automation system, maintaining logs of operations, safety activities, and equipment performance, and performing basic preventive maintenance while directing maintenance workers. You will manage inventory through purchase orders, oversee contractor activities for facility and tenant operations, identify safety hazards, and ensure compliance documentation is current.

• Operate and monitor central utilities plant and Honeywell building automation system, including 4 MW solar co‑gen turbine, HRSG, boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment.
• Maintain daily operation, maintenance, and safety logs with test results and equipment malfunction details.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks and direct maintenance crew activities.
• Manage inventory by preparing purchase orders and monitoring tool and supply levels.
• Supervise contractor activities for facility and tenant operations.
• Identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Keep infrastructure and compliance documentation up to date, including drawings and regulatory records.

Required qualifications include a New Jersey Blue Seal Stationary Engineer License (Red or Gold seals accepted), a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to lift 50 lb, climb ladders or scaffolding, and stand for extended periods, as well as availability for rotating 24/7/365 shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. A strong commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance is also mandatory.

Preferred qualifications are experience with central utilities plant operations and building automation systems, knowledge of preventive and reliability‑based maintenance, capability to train operations staff, familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, and leadership experience in developing procedures and operating plans.

The estimated compensation for this position ranges from $73,000 to $78,000 per year, with the actual package determined by factors such as qualifications, location, and market conditions.
