Plumber Apprentice

Description

Your duties include assisting with underground rough‑ins, stack‑outs and trim‑outs, installing hangers and supports for water, gas, compressed air, medical gas and other liquids, and working with a variety of pipe materials including copper, steel, cast iron, PVC, CPVC and PEX. You will also help set grease traps, decontamination tanks, oil and lint interceptors, and perform utility hookups while working from ladders, man lifts and other elevated equipment.

• Assist with commercial plumbing installations from underground rough‑ins to final trim‑outs on large projects.
• Install hangers, supports, and pipe systems for water, gas, compressed air, and medical gas.
• Work with materials such as copper, steel, cast iron, PVC, CPVC, and PEX.
• Set up grease traps, decontamination tanks, oil and lint interceptors, and perform utility hookups.
• Operate safely from ladders, man lifts, and other elevated equipment.
• Comply with company safety policies and maintain regular, punctual attendance.

Requirements

As a plumbing apprentice you will support commercial construction projects by installing plumbing systems and related materials on large‑scale projects such as healthcare, government, educational, manufacturing and data center facilities.

The position requires at least a high school diploma or GED, a valid apprentice license, and preferably two years of commercial plumbing experience. You should be willing to read blueprints and shop drawings, have basic math and tool skills, and an OSHA 10‑hour certification is a plus.

Additional expectations include a positive, teachable attitude, self‑motivation, basic mechanical aptitude, adherence to safety policies, regular attendance, ability to work overtime, physical capability to lift 50 lb and climb, and successful completion of background, drug, MVR and physical tests. Work is performed on commercial sites, often outdoors and at height, with required personal protective equipment.

• Hold a valid apprentice license; high school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 2 years commercial plumbing experience and OSHA 10‑hour certification.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and basic hand tools; strong math skills.
• Demonstrate positive, teachable attitude, self‑motivation, and basic mechanical aptitude.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, climb, squat, bend and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Pass background, drug, MVR, and physical ability screenings.
