Bridge Project Design Engineer III

Design and analyze bridges and related structures for CA transportation projects.
Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Identify discrepancies in results.
Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Provide guidance to entry level engineers.
Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.
Prepare structural designs, plans, specifications and cost estimate for transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures.
Provide load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structure type analysis evaluations.
Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered.
Use current engineering design software.
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Bachelor's degree + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
5+ years' experience bridge design experience with project delivery experience in CALTRANs and California / West Coast U.S. bridge design work.
Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
Experience with Caltrans and AASHTO bridge design practices, techniques, and applicable Codes.
Current PE license in the State of CA.
Master's degree in structural engineering.
Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software).
Knowledge of current structural modeling software tools.
Knowledgeable of other standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable Codes, such as IBC/CBC, AREMA, MRDC, etc.

Offered rate of compensation for Orange, CA. (and greater California) will be based on the individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $145,000.00.
