The Guest Safety Security Officer Lead (GSOL) ensures a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass, protecting assets, supporting guest and team member safety, and fostering a culture of professionalism and hospitality.
The GSOL oversees daily operations, leads a team of Guest Safety/Security Officers, coordinates incident response, conducts patrols, and acts as liaison with department leadership, local law enforcement, and emergency services. They also train new and existing officers on standard operating procedures and security technology.
The role includes managing security systems, maintaining inventory, overseeing lost‑and‑found, supporting event safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA/WISHA, and guaranteeing that all officers hold required certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Lead incident response and staff security posts across the facilities.
- Conduct daily patrols to protect guests, team members, and property.
- Train and mentor Guest Safety/Security Officers on SOPs and emergency procedures.
- Investigate and document accidents, injuries, and potential criminal activity.
- Manage lost‑and‑found records and departmental supply inventory.
- Oversee security technology (video, access control, fire alarms) and ensure 100 % functionality.
- Coordinate safety operations for events and shared campus activities.
- Serve as liaison with Seattle Center Security, Seattle Police, Fire Department, FBI, Secret Service, and Diplomatic Security Service.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA/WISHA regulations and enforce safety standards.
- Verify that all officers are certified in First Aid, CPR, AED and other required trainings.
- Remain reachable by radio at all times and operate two‑way communication equipment.
- Know locations of water shut‑offs and prepare training aids for their operation.
- Accompany terminated employees to retrieve belongings and escort them from the premises.
- Create and manage daily officer rotation schedules.
- Apply verbal de‑escalation techniques to resolve conflicts.

Candidates must have strong communication and reporting skills, be proficient with radios, video surveillance, access‑control systems, and Microsoft Office, possess conflict‑de‑escalation abilities, be physically capable of security patrol duties, hold a valid Washington driver’s license, and have experience in loss‑prevention and security industry practices.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and report‑writing skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and security access‑control platforms.
- Meet physical requirements, including lifting 50 lb and navigating stairs/ladders.
- Hold a valid Washington State driver’s license.
