Premium Audit - Field Auditor

Description

This field‑based role allows you to set your schedule from a home office, spending three to four days per week in the field with occasional overnight travel. You will also travel to our Raleigh office for meetings and company events up to four times a year.

• Schedule and conduct physical audits of selected commercial lines policies by reviewing the customer’s business operations and recording classification data.
• Ensure audit quality through proper risk classification and exposure basis identification.
• Use a laptop to record audit information and transmit completed audits promptly.
• Discuss issues with insureds to explain premium changes and maintain good customer relations.
• Provide external (agents, insureds) and internal (underwriting, claims, accounting) customers with audit statements, procedures, and worksheets.
• Stay informed of premium auditing changes through discussions with industry experts and literature review.
• Conduct business professionally to protect Builders Mutual’s corporate assets.
• Perform physical audits and pre‑audits on larger or more complex risks.

Requirements

We are expanding our Premium Auditor team and are seeking candidates located in Memphis, Bartlett, Collierville, or Germantown. The auditor conducts audits of Property/Casualty Commercial Lines policies to determine proper classifications, exposures, and premium bases, working independently on routine audits and escalating complex accounts as needed.

Overnight travel is occasionally required to complete audits and support business needs.

• Exhibit excellent time‑management skills while working from a home office with minimal supervision.
• Hold a BA/BS in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and 1–3 years of premium audit experience (or equivalent education/experience).
• Possess strong computer skills (MS Office); mainframe experience is a plus.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
• Manage time highly effectively.
• Exhibit superior organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Have advanced knowledge of NCCI and ISO manual rules for classification and exposure calculation.
• Some overnight travel is required.
