Celebrating Senior Living!
The Executive Director holds full responsibility for managing the assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing components of the community. They ensure high-quality resident care within budgetary limits, uphold Harbor Retirement Associates standards, and comply with all applicable regulations while leading by example through the organization’s CORE values and servant-leadership approach.
In internal community relations, the director creates resident-relation programs, gathers feedback from residents and families, and works closely with department heads to deliver superior care. They oversee nursing services when applicable, conduct daily rounds, implement quality-assurance initiatives, and maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies while managing facility safety and loss-prevention efforts.
Financial duties include developing the operating budget in line with HRA guidelines, continuously monitoring departmental performance, and analyzing the community’s profit and loss statements. The director participates in monthly P&L teleconferences, trains management on cost-control strategies, and supervises inventory control and contracted services.
Marketing responsibilities focus on maintaining high occupancy and building relationships with referral sources, while associate relations involve recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining staff. The director provides ongoing coaching, ensures compliance with appearance, sanitation, and health standards, oversees compensation, protects resident confidentiality, and maintains an open-door policy for employee concerns.
Non-essential functions encourage teamwork, participation in life-enrichment activities, and familiarity with safety protocols such as fire evacuation and missing-person reporting. All associates are expected to uphold a secure environment for residents, and the director models safe and alert behavior.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree, possess current ECC and/or CORE training certification (or CRCF), and have at least two years of supervisory experience. Required skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office, solid financial calculations, knowledge of federal and state regulations for various care settings, effective communication across all stakeholder levels, and a genuine passion for working with senior citizens.
Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA) is a senior living development and hospitality management company focused primarily on Assisted Living and Memory Care communities, but also engaged in the development and operations of multiple Independent Living communities.
