The role involves ensuring that schedule requests are completed on time with properly trained technicians, conducting field visits, attending meetings, and mentoring technicians through training assignments. Work is a blend of field and office duties, and the incumbent is expected to embody a positive customer‑service attitude aligned with ECS Core Values.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the management, mentoring, and training of field staff, promoting a safety culture with proper PPE and safety training, supporting scheduling operations, calibrating and maintaining field equipment records, and collaborating on recruiting efforts. Daily communication with technicians, project managers, and contractors, inventory maintenance, performing field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel, and submitting daily electronic field reports are also required. Additional duties may involve supporting project and department managers, attending project meetings, and participating in business development or managing testing projects.
The successful candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills, be dependable, self‑motivated, responsible, and detail‑oriented, and have a solid understanding of construction materials testing principles, applications, and standards. They must be able to work effectively with clients, peers, supervisors, and independently, while being proficient with electronic devices, computers, and MS Office.
Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of construction materials testing experience, a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift 85 lb repeatedly, OSHA 10‑hour certification (or ability to obtain), and three or more advanced certifications such as NICET, ACI, ICC, WACEL, or DOT. Preferred qualifications include experience mentoring junior staff, familiarity with electronic reporting systems, proficiency in reading site maps and technical specifications, and prior full‑time project representation for the firm.
