Staff senior Design Engineer - electromechanics

Description

The primary mission of this position is to lead electro‑mechanical design activities for low‑voltage Busways, ensuring customer requirements for technology, cost and quality are met while complying with IEC standards.

The role encompasses the full product lifecycle, from concept design and feasibility studies using tools such as Creo and Ansys, through prototype development, testing, documentation, and preparation for manufacturing.

• Create designs that meet electrical distribution market requirements as defined in product specifications.
• Lead design, development, testing, documentation, and manufacturing preparation activities.
• Perform engineering analysis and feasibility studies using Creo.
• Conduct Design for Cost and Design for Manufacture analyses, recommending alternative materials and assembly methods.
• Develop and evaluate product qualification, certification, and reliability through testing.
• Oversee prototype design, fabrication, and testing.
• Diagnose issues and conduct root cause analysis for design failures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (manufacturing, sourcing, finance, marketing, vendors) to define requirements, validate designs, ensure manufacturing readiness, and support product launches.
• Create and maintain product documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and design guides.

Requirements

Successful candidates will have extensive experience with LV Busways, knowledge of manufacturing and tooling processes, and a strong grasp of IEC 61439‑1/2/6 standards, along with excellent project management and communication skills.

A bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and 10‑12 years of relevant experience are required; the position offers the chance to make an impact within Schneider Electric’s sustainability‑focused culture.

• Design metallic and plastic components with knowledge of manufacturing and tooling processes.
• Experience in product design, production engineering, and value engineering for LV Busways.
• Familiarity with quality assurance, cost analysis, and product development processes.
• Knowledge of stamping, moulding, machining, casting, assembly, and tooling processes.
• Understanding of ferrous and non‑ferrous metals, plastics, and elastomers.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE software such as Creo and Ansys.
• Strong project and design management capabilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of IEC 61439‑1/2/6 and related standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, goal‑setting, and priority‑management skills.
• Full product lifecycle experience from scoping to production establishment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 10‑12 years of relevant experience.
