The Digital Energy Technical Apprentice (Power) role is based in Chippenham and is part of Schneider Electric’s Level 6 degree apprenticeship programme, offering a £23,000 salary. As a Technical Apprentice you will work at the forefront of digital power, designing and implementing innovative solutions that improve the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of energy systems.
Essential attributes include a full UK driving licence, basic IT competence, excellent communication, strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A keen interest in sustainability and energy management is also required, with desirable skills such as understanding energy management and data analysis.
Applicants must have at least five GCSEs (including Maths, English and a STEM subject) at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications such as A‑levels, BTEC DDM or T‑levels with an engineering focus. No previous work experience is required, but a demonstrable interest in engineering through school or hobbies is expected.
You will be part of a dynamic team, gaining hands‑on experience on real‑world projects while learning from industry leaders. The apprenticeship combines on‑the‑job training delivered by Schneider Electric with off‑the‑job training from an approved provider, ensuring you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for occupational competence.
Your working week is 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, with exact start and finish times agreed with your line manager. A portion of these hours (at least 20 % of your time) is protected for off‑the‑job training.
The role offers a competitive salary, bonus scheme, employee share ownership, pension, generous life assurance and 28 days of annual leave plus public holidays. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, health and wellbeing support, volunteering opportunities, employee discounts and access to career and learning portals are also provided.
