The role involves traveling to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start‑up, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems. The incumbent will assist the project lead with functional testing of substation control circuits, isolation, set‑point and advanced logic testing, as well as scheme testing such as reclosing and breaker failure.
Support is also provided for end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, RTS, or Test Universe software, and for installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFR equipment, SCADA, distribution automation, and related communications. Additionally, the individual helps develop standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures and prepares customer reports detailing problems and corrective actions.
- Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start‑up, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage systems.
- Assist project lead with functional testing of substation control circuits, isolation, set‑point, advanced logic, and scheme testing (reclosing, breaker failure).
- Perform end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, RTS, or Test Universe software.
- Support installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying, DFR, SCADA, distribution automation, and communication equipment.
- Develop standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures for protective relaying, DFRs, RTUs, IEDs, and automation systems.
- Generate customer reports describing identified problems and corrective actions.
- Distinguish color coding of wires, fiber optics, and related materials.
- Adhere to all electrical safety procedures.

Candidates should have an associate’s degree in Electrical Power & Controls, an ABET‑accredited EE degree, or equivalent military training, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to recognize wire and fiber‑optic color coding and adhere to electrical safety procedures are required.
The position requires the ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 75 lb., and candidates must pass drug and background screenings. Regular overnight domestic travel, flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekend or holiday work may be required.
- Hold an associate’s degree in Electrical Power & Controls, an ABET‑accredited EE degree, or equivalent military training.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Pass pre‑employment drug test and criminal background check.
- Able to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 75 lb. (with reasonable accommodations).
