Develop scopes of work based on RFPs and pre-bid meetings with clients.
Perform pipe stress analysis utilizing software such as CAESAR II, NozzlePro, etc.
Apply your knowledge in Food & Personal Care, Bioprocessing, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power, Manufacturing and Industrial and shipbuilding facilities/systems (Conceptual Design).
Perform detailed reviews of piping isometrics, piping plans, pipe specifications, P&IDs, and other design documents.
Interpret scopes-of-work and translate them into executable project plans.
Mentor other mechanical engineers and designers.Construction Support:
Ensure understanding and compliance with owner’s requirements of the facility or corporate standards related to mechanical design.
Perform and document engineering calculations related to mechanical engineering for the purpose of selecting code compliant systems and equipment.
Work with Project Engineer/Manager to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents provided for each deliverable.
Work with the project team to design a cohesive, technically acceptable, and optimized piping system.
Establish and document the mechanical systems basis of design and in doing so provide clarification, qualifications and design assumptions regarding relevant design issues.
Perform field inspections and review of reports.
Manage project mechanical engineering and design team and oversee all aspects of the mechanical scope related primarily to equipment and piping.
Confirm and review applicable codes and standards such as, but not limited to, the IBC, ASME, API, PIP and NFPA.
Oversee problem solving efforts for field oversights and addressing RFI’s.
Work with owner and construction management team to validate construction cost and provide value-engineering options as necessary.
Perform sizing and selection of equipment and systems.
Oversee piping group activities related to mechanical equipment, piping and 3D modeling to support mechanical deliverables.
Contribute to the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from ABET accredited program required.
Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Pipe stress analysis experience utilizing software such as CAESAR II.
Employment with Merrick is contingent upon completion of a pre-employment background check, MVR check, and drug screen.
Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, PIP and API codes.
HVAC and plumbing design for industrial facilities.
Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects.
Experience in managing personnel and project engineering.
Significant experience designing and installing retrofits and upgrades at manufacturing, industrial, and shipbuilding facilities.
Twelve (12)+ years industry experience.
Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain your PE within the first year of employment.
Experience leading teams of engineers on design projects.
