Tasks

-Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits. -Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents. -Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to bridge and marine construction. -Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles. -Ensure that safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards. -Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to bridge and marine construction projects. -Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. -Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership. -Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement. -Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects. -Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks. -Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. -Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.

What You Bring

-Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. -Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done. -Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies. -Willingness to travel and relocate to project sites as needed. -Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on bridge and marine projects, or heavy civil and transportation projects. Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity. -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, and WorkSafe BC regulations and other relevant safety standards. -Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments. -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Professional certification in safety management (ie. NCSO) preferred. -Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Years of experience will be considered in lieu. -Regular, reliable attendance -CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
