The Assistant Project Manager (APM) role supports the successful execution of assigned federal construction projects through QGS’s Acquire–Comply–Execute lifecycle. Reporting to a Project Manager and Program Manager, the APM assists with daily coordination of safety, quality, cost, schedule, and compliance activities, and partners with enterprise functional teams such as Safety/Quality, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Cyber/IT, and Compliance to ensure accurate, audit‑ready project controls and documentation.
The position is classified as non‑exempt and can be based in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, or Kentucky. It interfaces with Construction Operations, Safety/Quality, Finance, HR, IT/Cyber, Legal/Compliance, and Preconstruction, and requires up to 50 % travel, including overnight stays.
Candidates should have 2–4 years of experience supporting federal or commercial construction projects, preferably on contracts valued at $1 million or more. A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, and PMP or CAPM certification is desired (with PMP required within a defined period for advancement). OSHA 30 certification, familiarity with FAR/DFARS and DCAA requirements, strong organizational abilities, and effective communication skills are also essential.
