The Construction Project Manager leads the successful execution of assigned projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and financial targets are met. The role manages the project team, plans, directs, coordinates, and budgets construction activities while maintaining compliance with corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Quality Control policies. Projects range from $3 M to $20 M, and travel or temporary duty assignments may be required.
Key duties include managing construction and design‑build proposals, developing estimates, schedules, subcontractor packages, and ensuring HSE and quality compliance. The manager prepares baseline performance plans, tracks costs, forecasts cash flow, and delivers projects at or above target gross profit. Safety performance is monitored through site‑specific plans, incident reporting, and corrective actions, while quality performance ensures adherence to contract documents and design requirements. Client management involves keeping owners informed, resolving issues promptly, and achieving high satisfaction for repeat business. The role also oversees design and trade subcontractor selection, risk registers, change orders, permits, and fosters a collaborative environment among owners, contractors, and designers.
A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field is required, with a PMP or CCM certification acceptable in lieu of the degree. Candidates must have at least five years of experience as a Project Manager or Construction Manager and possess strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of built‑environment infrastructure, critical path scheduling, Earned Value management, cash‑flow control, and project controls is essential. Professional certifications such as CCM (CMAA) or PMP are preferred.
The position requires the ability to navigate construction sites, including walking, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and standing on uneven surfaces for extended periods. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lb, operate tools and equipment, drive a motor vehicle, and adhere to personal protective equipment standards. Physical stamina is needed to work in various weather conditions, maintain focus under tight deadlines, and enforce safety protocols. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
