The Mailroom Clerk performs clerical duties related to processing United States Postal Service and interdepartmental mail and packages, as well as handling parcels from shipping services such as UPS and Federal Express. The role requires accurate text input and efficient document production using a keyboard or computerized system, with copying, compiling, and distribution as needed. Required forms and records must be completed thoroughly, accurately, and legibly.
The clerk must read and comprehend correspondence, policies, regulations, procedures, reports, and other moderately complex documents. Communication with staff, inmates/residents, and visitors is essential, including responding to inquiries, routing calls, and taking accurate messages.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and a minimum age of 21. Candidates should have at least one year of mailroom or full‑time clerical experience, strong organizational and observational skills, attention to detail, and preferably experience with Microsoft Office applications.
