The Construction Engineer – Nightworks will be based at Dublin Airport and report to the Construction Manager. The role involves planning, supervising and technically executing construction activities during night‑time operations in a live, operational airport environment, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with project and airport requirements while minimising disruption to airport activities.
- Plan, coordinate and implement night‑time construction activities within approved possession windows.
- Supervise night‑shift site work to achieve productivity, quality and safety targets.
- Provide on‑site engineering support, including setting out, checking works and resolving technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with airport safety rules, airside permits, fatigue management and reduced‑visibility controls.
- Participate in toolbox talks, night briefings and safety observations, and enforce emergency procedures.
- Coordinate with airport operations, airside management, subcontractors and suppliers to align nightworks with access arrangements.
- Manage logistics, plant and material delivery for night operations.
- Maintain accurate records, daily nightwork reports, shift logs and as‑built documentation.
- Track progress against programme milestones, identify risks and contribute to recovery planning.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, able to work autonomously on night shifts, and possess the technical expertise and safety awareness needed to succeed in a high‑risk, time‑restricted environment.
- Report clearly in writing and verbally to the Construction Manager after each night shift.
- Hold a degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Legal right to work in the Republic of Ireland and willingness to complete a 5‑year background screening.
- Proven experience in site or construction engineering, preferably with nightworks in live operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of method statements, risk assessments, permit systems and construction sequencing.
- Excellent communication, coordination and organisational skills, especially during shift handovers.
- Desirable: experience in airport, rail or other 24/7 infrastructure projects; familiarity with Irish construction standards; Safe Pass and airport security clearances; coordinating multiple subcontractors during out‑of‑hours works.
