Wind Turbine Technician - Tech One Program

Description

• Meet weight requirements for tower ladders (250‑300 lb max with PPE)
• Follow all assigned Environmental, Health and Safety procedures
• Perform basic mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades
• Verify work complies with customer requirements
• Perform work per established procedures
• Document all work performed
• Report policy or procedure violations
• Submit progress reports
• Repair or replace parts
• Occasionally work independently on equipment maintenance projects
• Dismantle and assemble basic machinery, components, equipment, or tooling

Requirements

TOP Wind Service Technicians receive GWO‑accredited safety and technical training and work primarily at wind sites near their homes. They join a service team to perform preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on turbine generator equipment safely and efficiently, reporting to the Program Manager, Site Manager, and Lead Technician as required. While they are not certified to work inside cabinets or controllers without supervision, they may be assigned additional duties to support customer needs and advance Sky Climber’s mission.

• Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
• High School Diploma/GED and Associate Degree in a technical mechanical or wind energy discipline, or equivalent experience
• Complete required safety and technical training, background check, and drug screening
• Strong mechanical and electrical background preferred
• Ability to read, write, and understand English
• Ability to read and understand basic diagrams and wiring schematics
• Proficient with MS Office Application Suite
• Initiative and ability to work without direct supervision
• Adapt quickly to a dynamic environment
• Effective communicator and team player
• Ability to follow instructions
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to climb a 300‑foot wind tower multiple times per day
• Ability to walk across the hub and rappel in emergencies
• Comfortable working at heights up to 300+ feet
• Comfortable working in confined spaces
• Ability to see and move throughout site; repetitive motion may be involved
• Occasional kneeling and squatting
• Frequent climbing, walking, standing, and bending
• Ability to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lb
• Successful completion of climb test(s) and tower rescue training
• Use activity tools safely and knowledgeably
• Travel as required (up to 25%)
• Work at heights and in all weather conditions
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and clear driving record
