The Maintenance Technician B works under direct supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment, including chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks, while supporting drivers and servicing advanced vehicles on a single fleet.
Daily duties involve diagnosing malfunctions with electronic tools, conducting preventative and corrective maintenance both on‑site and on the road, performing line‑maintenance welding and fabrication, and safely delivering road service to return equipment to operation efficiently.
Key responsibilities include repairing chassis components, refuse bodies and their control, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic brakes, engines, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC systems; completing required company training; and performing any additional job‑related tasks as assigned.
Candidates should have at least one year of technician experience or be graduating from an accredited automotive program, possess a basic understanding of work order labor standards, and be capable of inspecting heavy‑truck systems such as suspension, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, and diesel emissions with limited supervision. ASE certifications, a commercial driver’s license, and a valid driver’s license are advantageous but not mandatory.
The position offers a pay range of $22.40 to $33.60 per hour and may include a bonus plan.
