The successful candidate should be a registered Civil Engineer in the State of New Mexico or be able to obtain registration within 6 months. Success in this position requires an individual who can adapt to a variety of personalities and business conditions and can work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The person must possess skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and be steadfast in the execution of assigned duties. The person needs to be an effective leader and collaborator with an ability to manage a fleet of soil/concrete technicians, Special Inspectors, and Laboratory staff.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office.
- Experience with AASHTO and ASTM test methods pertaining to construction materials, including HMA, aggregate, soils, steel, masonry, and concrete.
- Experience overseeing materials testing and inspections.
- Extensive knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- PE in New Mexico or obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Develop an understanding and be aware of project-related risks. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
- Experience reviewing concrete/asphalt mix designs.
- Thorough understanding of accreditation policies for all relevant agencies, including AMRL, CCRL, IAS, etc.
- Demonstrated experience with reviewing technical specifications and daily reports.
- BS in civil engineering.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, think creatively, and problem solve.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
