Key responsibilities include managing multi‑disciplinary projects of varying scale, liaising with clients such as local authorities, National Highways, MOD and contractors, and undertaking technical lead and reviewer roles. You will support team members to maximize their contribution, prepare fee proposals, manage budgets, and deliver design drawings, specifications and bills of quantities for tender packages. The role also involves ensuring health and safety, environmental compliance and quality assurance, as well as coordinating team resources.
WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Engineer to join the Roads team based in Exeter. You will be leading day‑to‑day technical delivery of highway consultancy services to support our clients through all stages of the project life‑cycle from feasibility and concept design through to planning, detailed design, and construction. The role is client‑facing and requires a proven track record of delivering schemes in the local or national transport arena.
We are looking for candidates with strong knowledge of highway design and drainage systems, including road geometry, roundabouts, junctions, active travel, and traffic signage. Experience in leading design disciplines, preparing contract documents, and using software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage or PDS is essential. Applicants should be Chartered or Incorporated Engineers with solid communication and stakeholder‑management skills and familiarity with design codes and CDM regulations.
