The estimator will prepare accurate, competitive bids for commercial hydronics projects, analyze plans and specifications to determine material and labor requirements, and collaborate with sales teams to ensure successful proposals. Negotiating with vendors for optimal pricing and staying current on product, pricing, and industry trends are also essential duties.
Key responsibilities include providing cost estimates, performing quantity take‑offs, entering data into the estimating system, and maintaining supporting documentation. The role also involves identifying and negotiating with qualified suppliers, communicating estimates to customers, generating reports, and working closely with Inside Sales and other departments to improve estimating processes.
Candidates should have prior experience with commercial hydronic products, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail in calculations. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, and independence are also valued.
Applicants need a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least two years of office administration experience, preferably in construction, plus two years of experience with commercial hydronic products. Strong data‑entry accuracy, written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to collaborate are required; a bachelor's degree and familiarity with estimating software are preferred.
