Coastal Resilience and Sustainability Lead

Description

The role will focus on leading climate resilience and adaptation projects, championing nature-based and innovative engineering solutions, and fostering close collaboration across internal teams and external partners, including those within the SJ Group. The leader will primarily oversee projects in Singapore, while also exploring and supporting opportunities in overseas markets.

• Lead and manage day-to-day project operations, ensuring effective coordination among clients, government agencies, stakeholders, and sub-consultants.
• Champion nature-based and sustainable coastal engineering solutions aligned with CEM and SJ Group objectives.
• Foster collaboration with internal teams and contribute to developing long-term capabilities in coastal resilience.
• Identify and manage project risks, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Generate new project pipelines, shape future opportunities, and reinforce SJ’s leadership in developing in the sustainable and climate-resilient field of work
• Provide technical input and guidance on feasibility studies, coastal adaptation, and resilience planning.
• Oversee project planning, technical delivery, and progress reporting to meet contractual, technical, and financial targets.
• Responsible for driving strategic initiatives and research collaborations within the SJ Group and with external stakeholders such as government authorities and Institutes of Higher Learning

Requirements

• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large-scale infrastructure or environmental projects.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in coastal engineering, adaptation, or resilience projects.
• Strong understanding of coastal processes, modelling, and adaptation planning.
• Effective leadership and team coordination abilities.
• Strategic and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
