Assist Resident Engineer with response to Request for Information from Contractor
Keep abreast of new methods and developments
Ensure conformance with standards, established engineering practices, applicable codes and technical adequacy of design and construction
Inspects construction progress which may include ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications; observes work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship
Ensure compliance with the construction contract requirements and shop drawing prepared by contractor
Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations for review by team leaders prior to submission to clients concerning the structures
Prepare Daily diaries and maintains inspection records
Verify compliance with applicable regulations controlling work including CAL/OSHA and SWPPP
Preparation of final as-builts
Verify field dimension including vertical and horizontal field control for structures
Oversee staff performing daily field inspections
Performing calculation and acceptance of temporary structures as used in construction of bridges and structures including falsework, temporary shoring, working platforms, temporary supports.
Assist in the preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required for the Project. Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Caltrans experience, highly desired.
Experience administering Caltrans Structures Construction projects and familiarity with their standards and practices.
In-depth understanding of structural design and construction, including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and related infrastructure.
20+ years of experience in construction management for heavy civil engineering projects, with a focus on structural elements.
Proficient in contract administration and documentation, with excellent attention to detail.
Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Excel).
Ability to review submittals including shop drawings, product data, samples, test samples, QA plans submitted by the contractor
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California (required).
Ability to work independently. Ability to perform duties in the construction field office and effectively make decisions concerning construction work in progress and solving field problem
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
